About Air Pressure
Air Pressure is collaborative exploration of the acoustic environment in the immediate vicinity of Narita airport in Japan. Two scientists, an anthropologist and an artist are conducting inter-disciplinary field research that will emerge in a number of ways, including a gallery exhibition, an artbook with CD and research papers. The research is funded by a Wellcome Trust Arts Award. The four researchers involved in the project are Professor Kozo Hiramatsu, Professor Toshihito Matsui, Dr. Rupert Cox and Angus Carlyle. This posterous blog is intended to track Angus Carlyle's contributions to the research, documenting his experiences at the study site and subsequent efforts to develop that field research towards the exhibition and other outcomes.
The study site can be viewed through Google Maps here. The area we are working in is the fenced-off space adjacent to the word "Toho."
The photograph, taken by Professor Hiramatsu, shows part of the study site.
